Jamie Lee Curtis, star of the new a24 movie, Everything Everywhere All At Once, has taken to Instagram to unfavourably compare her new film to the latest MCU movie, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Both new releases have plots involving the concept of a multiverse. Apparently it’s like the old saying goes, you wait ages for one multiverse movie and then two come along at once.

In the first of two Instagram posts, Curtis shared a photo of both films’ posters side by side. In the caption she claims that “Our tiny movie that could and did and continues to be number 1 movie in America and is TRULY MARVELOUS, out marvels any Marvel movie they put out.” She went on to suggest that the Marvel movie has a “copycat poster” and asked if this means the movies are part of an “internet feud”.

In a second post, the actress then shared three pictures of a negative Doctor Strange review by the New York Times, including an excerpt that unfavourably compares it to Everything Everywhere All At Once. She went on to claim that their movie “COST LESS than the ENTIRE craft service budget on Doctor Strange and/or any other Marvel movie.”

Jamie Lee Curtis concluded her second post by admitting she’s competitive and ended with the hashtag “#guessiwillneverbecastinamarvelmovie”. Although in a strange turn of events it was then rumoured by the MCU Direct Twitter account that Curtis would actually appear in the upcoming Marvel movie, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. However, MCU director James Gunn swiftly took to twitter to debunk this, replying to their tweet with a simple “Nope.”

Instagram and Twitter users have since been debating the behaviour exhibited by Curtis in her Instagram posts. Some have come out in support for her comments against Marvel, while others have disagreed with the way in which she has expressed herself.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was released in UK cinemas on May 5 and Everything Everywhere All At Once will be released on May 13.
