In the long list of potential remakes that no one asked for, Look Who’s Talking had to be somewhere at the top of that pile. Worry not, dear reader! Deadline has confirmed that Screen Gems have added it to their to-do list to highlight just how hilarious it is giving a baby a voice. We’ve already got the Oscar-nominated Boss Baby, but whatever.
Initially dominating the box-office in 1986, the film saw Bruce Willis voice a newborn baby, who tried to deal with this big wide world he’d arrived in to. A majority of his observations were of his single Mum (played by Kirstie Alley) flirting with John Travolta’s cabbie who she eventually ends up with.
Deadline reports that The Wedding Ringer‘s Jeremy Garelick is directing the film and is quite keen over getting to work on his take of the story.
“Everyone can relate to babies,” says Garelick. “The challenge is, that was a really good movie, Travolta and Kirstie Alley had great chemistry and Amy Heckerling wrote a great script. We’re in the early stages of figuring out what the story is for the modern version of the movie.”
Currently, there are no confirmed cast members on board for Look Who’s Talking as the film is still in its (ahem) infancy. Feel free to draft your cast together as the writing team get hard at work over trying to get laughs over a baby’s understanding of Twitter. You read that here first.
