Netflix is on a busy one this week. Not only have they signed on the dotted line alongside Dwayne Johnson for his Red Notice movie, but they’ve also just given the green light to adapting a TV based on that coveted Xbox game and the highest cause of game controller replacements since FIFA and Call of Duty; Cuphead.

Originally hitting loading screens back in 2017, the game was a frantic side-scrolling shooter that while beautifully mimicking cartoon shorts of the golden era, was so flinging-flanging difficult to play, completing it was the equivalent of climbing K2 using only your thumbs.

THR revealed that C.J. Kettler (who is also set on producing Carmen Sandiego) and Dave Wasson (Mickey Mouse Shorts) would be teaming up with the game’s creators, Chad and Jared Moldenhauer, are overlooking proceedings as executive producers.

Currently, there’s no confirmation on whether The Cuphead Show! will tell a new tale of Cuphead and his brother, Mugman, or if they’ll be adapting the original story which saw the porcelain-topped siblings make a deal with the Devil. For now, we can only press pause and wait to see what gets stirred up.
