As the world revvs its engine to see the Stath and the Dwaynth go it alone in their upcoming Fast and Furious spin-off Hobbs and Shaw, one fella who might not be buying himself a ticket is Vin Diesel. Not because he’s got a grudge the size of a Humvee wedged between he and his former co-star – oh no, certainly not. He’s simply going to be too busy filming in London for the ninth chapter in the Fast and Furious franchise, which will also see the return of Helen Mirren and Charlize Theron.

Announcing it for all the world to see on Instagram (RIP for Vinbook?), the man who still gargles cement daily announced in his gravelly rasp that both Cipher and Magdalene Shaw would be back in action for Fast 9. Diesel also added that he’s excited for John Cena (pronounced ‘Senna’ for some reason) to make his debut in the franchise, and who he believes will ‘completely shine in this movie’. Not a dig at all there, eh Vin?

Currently, there are no plot details as to what capacity both of these top-level talents will be making a comeback for. The odds are that they’ll turn up somewhere between someone driving intensely, cars skidding through oncoming traffic and Vin saying ‘family’ on several occasions.

Fast and Furious 9 sees the return of director Justin Lin handling proceedings with Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, and Nathalie Emmanuel along for the ride again. This will also lead up to what folks are assuming to be the final and tenth chapter of the franchise, which is already in the shop getting tuned up.

For now, you can expect Fast and Furious 9 to blast into cinemas May 22, 2020. That’s after Hobbs and Shaw arrive August 2.
