This Detriot native residing in Brooklyn, New York, is a passionate and determined individual who first started as a music booking agent before delving into film and theater. She is a UCB [Upright Citizens Bright Training Center] for Improvisation and Sketch Comedy Education graduate and studied with four-time Academy Award-nominee, Marsha Mason. The ambiguous star is featured in R&F Entertainment’s latest production achieving industry attention with her second straight acting nomination for her role in the Award-winning inspirational film Maturing Youth alongside in competition with Primetime Emmy and Tony-winning, Golden Globe-nominated actress and singer Lainie Kazan for Best Supporting Actress at the Brightside Film Festival. This brilliant and captivating movie star is Kim Paris.
Chase Michael Pallante, Founder/CEO of the R&F Entertainment and the Multi-Award-Winning producer of the film had a moment to catch up with the actress asking her how does it feel to be nominated in the same category with such a Multi-Award-winning powerhouse performer, “It’s incredibly humbling,” Paris continued to express with such joy, “Getting to do creatively-fulfilling work is something I’m grateful for every day. And then to be recognized for that work alongside such great talents – it’s surreal.” Kim’s fellow nominee stars in writer/director Nick Vallelonga’s 17-Time Award-Winning film Unorganized Crime with Oscar-nominated actor Chazz Palminteri (which her co-star, Sean A. Kaufman of Maturing Youth is nominated with for Best Actor at BSFF) Telenovela alumna Alex Meneses, John Pankow from Mad About You andThe Godfather actor Carmine Caridi. The writer/director is also the Oscar-nominated producer for this years 5-Time Academy-Award nominated film Green Book. Kazan is a Tony Award-winning Broadway star and Golden Globe nominee for her role as Belle Carroca in the Two-Time Golden Globe-nominated film and Broadway Musical My Favorite Year amongst her Primetime Emmy nomination in 5-Time Golden Globe-nominated and 12-Time Primetime Emmy Winning hit TV Series St. Elsewhere, her roles in the 2-Time Golden Globe Winning and 4-Time Primetime Emmy Winning critically acclaimed TV show Grey’s Anatomy, 2-Time Golden Globe and 6-Time Primetime Emmy Winning showDesperate Housewives, Netflix’s Fuller House, and most popular known for her work as Maria Portokalos in the Oscar and Golden Globe-nominated sleeper hit My Big Fat Greek Wedding. The aspiring young Scorpio-born thespian plays Sadie, a single mother struggling to survive homeless while bouncing around different parts in the country with her adorable little youngster, Junior, played by the remarkable child actor, Joshua Saint Leger. This exciting and thought-provoking new film is about a man named Roger, played by the Two-Time Award-nominated actor Sean A. Kaufman, who enjoys his freedom of neglecting any obligation except his self-gratifying vices. However, his life is thrown into a whirlwind when his ex-lover interrupts his life with a surprise that he is not at all ready nor willing to accept. Not before long, a tempestuous argument, which quite possibly might be the reason why they both are nominated, erupts between the doomed lovers resulting in a rather quick dysfunctional situation that leaves her ex-lover with the ultimatum to begrudgingly face fatherhood or take the blind eye of denial.
The film forces us to watch the difficult characteristics of what certain individuals we would want to stay away from, or rather never want to become. Being afforded a life of independent means it can be a blessing in some regards, perhaps, but it can also be the definitive test of one’s character and certainly for the co-dependency on life itself with the excuse of entitlement for Roger. If one chooses to use such a situation toward altruistic ends, or at the very least a venture that can provide some personal fulfillment, it says something about who an individual is. On the other hand, if he squanders the opportunity on a totally self-absorbed, shallow existence, there’s not much to conceal about a man’s self-worth and dignity let alone the future for his abandoned son. And the decisions on taking the latter path may provide some interesting moments, it’s a cosmetically created, external bubble that serves no other purpose than covering up an empty life, and sooner or later, that bubble is bound to burst. This dramedy questions the responsibilities of our actions, the sorrow in our happiness, the joy in our pain and the ultimate test of character of becoming what we truly are deep down inside.
Kim expresses her ardent gratitude because “none of this would be possible without the support of some brilliant people behind me – particularly, my producer Chase Michael Pallante and R&F Entertainment, along with my director, Divoni Simon. Working with them has been a dream come true. Also, the talent of my co-stars absolutely blew me away. I’m thrilled to see them getting recognized as well.” You can learn more about the actress on her website and on Facebook and Instagram.
