Neill Blomkamp Gives ‘Anthem’ The Live-Action Treatment In ‘Conviction’ Trailer
Neill Blomkamp, director of films such as District 9, Chappie, and Elysium, has given Bioware’s Anthem the live-action treatment in a trailer that shows a world struggling to survive. The trailer is set decades for before the events of the newly released game, this impressive trailer leaves us wanting more Anthem live-action content.
Blomkamp is no stranger at turning his hand to adapting video games to live-action, back in 2007 he directed Halo: Landfall – a short film that focussed on Orbital Drop Shock Troopers (ODSTs) attempting to find the location of Master Chief. I remember being in awe of the short when it was released, with Halo being one of my all time favourite game franchises, I absolutely loved seeing this live-action version bring the ODSTs to life, driving around in Warthogs and avoiding Banshee blasts.
Blomkamp was in the running to direct a live-action Halo film around the time of this short’s release but, for one reason or another, it wasn’t meant to be and we still don’t have one.
