Last year we were offered the opportunity to watch and review a screener of Divoni Simon’s first short film, Maturing Youth from multi-award winning entertainment production company R&F Entertainment, and produced by Chase Michael Pallante. We were also excited to be offered an interview with Divoni last year to chat about his experience shooting the short film.

Following its premiere and the release of some brilliant red carpet interviews, we have today received the news that the film has been nominated for three awards at Brightside Film Festival, which takes place in Jersey City, NJ at the beginning of next month.

The three nominations are for Sean A. Kaufman for Best Lead Actor, Kim Paris for Best Supporting Actress, and the short is also up for Best Film at the festival. The cast and film are up against other great talents in the industry, including one entry that was produced by some of the team behind the Academy Award-nominated Green Book. We wish Sean, Kim, and the whole cast and crew of Maturing Youth the best of luck at the festival.

The film is screening at the festival on Sunday, 3rd March at 4:00 pm. The award ceremony follows the screening of Maturing Youth and is included with a ticket, which are available here (Film Block: Set 3 (Downstairs) 4:00pm slot.)

“An under-achieving, unemployed 30-year-old man enjoys his freedom of non-responsibility through his vices. However, his life is thrown into a whirlwind when his ex-girlfriend interrupts his life with a surprise: their illegitimate toddler son. And when she disappears, it gives him the ultimatum to begrudgingly face fatherhood, or to continue living life void of responsibility.”
