Last night Dwayne Johnson shared a brand new photo from Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw of the two titular characters and the film’s antagonist, Brixton (Idiris Elba).
Johnson later left a comment on Complex’s Instagram post saying “Promise to deliver. Keep your eyes peeled during the Super Bowl”. We reckon it’s safe to go ahead an assume we will get our first teaser or full-blown trailer for the film, which is scheduled for an August release in the UK.
The current synopsis for David Leitch’s film is “A spinoff of The Fate of the Furious, focusing on Johnson’s US Diplomatic Security Agent Luke Hobbs forming an unlikely alliance with Statham’s Deckard Shaw.”
Joining Johnson, Statham, and Elba are Vanessa Kirby who is playing Deckard’s Sister, Hattie Shaw, and Eiza González playing the mysterious role of Madam M, and Johnson has promised everyone will be kicking all kinds of ass in this film.
This is the first spin-off of the incredibly successful Fast & Furious franchise and has been something Johnson has been excited to do since joining the F&F family back in 2011’s Fast Five where we were first introduced to Luke Hobbs who was an agent of the Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) and originally tasked with apprehending Deckard and his brother, Owen.
The Super Bowl takes places Sunday 3rd February this year and it’s always an exciting time for film fans as studios fork out the big bucks to get us excited for some of the big films coming up this year. We’ll be keeping a close eye feeds in the lead up to the Super Bowl as studios do love to tease their appearance during the Super Bowl ads.
We’ll also be keeping eyes on our good friends over at TrailerTrack, who will no doubt have a good idea closer to the time of what films we can expect to get excited over to kick off February.
